“A People of Hope: Until All Are Fed”

You’re invited to celebrate World Food Day with “A People of Hope: Until All Are Fed,” featuring Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton and guidebook author and travel TV host Rick Steves. This online benefit for ELCA World Hunger will take place on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. Central time. Special guests include the Rev. David Beckmann, who is being honored for his lifelong service to end hunger; the Rev. Rebel Hurd; Willie and Anne Langdji; and the Rev. Rafael Malpica Padilla. There will also be performances by Rachel Kurtz, Peter Mayer and the St. Olaf Choir.

As a church, we remain focused on supporting our neighbors near and far as the pandemic continues disrupting and impacting lives. At this event, you will learn about the ways ELCA World Hunger is responding. Register today.

Living Lutheran: “Do You See God
in Me?”

“It goes beyond the general surface—it’s getting down to the dirty and doing the work to understand each other.” In Living Lutheran’s September lead feature, Lutheran leaders talk about what is needed for people to have discussions that bring them together rather than tear them apart. Read more about the ways these leaders have been having difficult conversations in their communities, and how these conversations have brought understanding and compassion.

Throughout September, Living Lutheran will be sharing more stories on this theme of difficult conversations. Follow along on our social media, using the hashtag #LLConvos, to read more about the discussions being had within this church.

Register for the ELCA Youth Gathering

We’re excited to announce that registration for the 2022 ELCA Youth Gathering opened Sept. 22! Thousands of youth and their adult leaders will gather for a week of faith formation in Minneapolis next summer under the theme “boundless: God beyond measure.” Important to the Gathering’s ministry are the two pre-events: the Multicultural Youth Leadership Event (MYLE), a faith formation and leadership development event primarily for youth of color, and the tAble, which brings together, blesses and empowers youth with disabilities. These pre-events will take place July 21-24, immediately before the Gathering, in the Twin Cities. Learn more and register.

2021 Hein-Fry Book of Faith Challenge

The Hein-Fry Book of Faith Challenge (HFBFC) seeks to enliven the biblical engagement of the whole church by encouraging the development of faithful, innovative and effective ways of teaching and learning Scripture. Each year, one student from each ELCA seminary is invited to create an innovative class, encounter or series. The 2021 challenge centers on the theme “Imagining Scriptural Encounters in the New Normal.” You are invited to join the conversation in this year’s four online events. Register at BookofFaith.org/.

Mission Investment Fund: Bring your congregation’s building project to life

The Mission Investment Fund is a ministry of the ELCA with faith and finance at its center. Planning new construction? Building improvements? Refinancing an existing loan? Consider MIF. Here’s why:

  • Decades of experience. We're different from your average lending institution. As a ministry of the ELCA, we understand your needs.
  • The numbers are in your favor. Interest rates on loans are at near-historic lows. Unlike many commercial lenders, we charge no points or loan origination fees.
  • Faithful stewardship. When you work with us, you help support other ministries of this church and the communities they serve.

Readiness for Retirement Savings Matching program

Resourceful Servants, an initiative of the ELCA and its ministry partners, supports leaders and congregations in the ELCA by promoting the financial wellness of seminarians, rostered ministers and congregations through direct financial assistance and resources for financial education. Leaders and congregations that are financially well experience greater health and vitality overall and are better able to carry out the Great Commission — making disciples for Jesus Christ. For many rostered ministers, financial stress caused by lack of retirement savings is a barrier to effectiveness and satisfaction in ministry. To address this challenge, Resourceful Servants offers the Readiness for Retirement Savings Matching program. Learn more about the Readiness for Retirement program.
