Living Lutheran: “I’m a Lutheran” — Mark Hansen
“A lesson from forestry is that change is not instant. In forestry, you measure small changes. You’re looking at and seeing trees that change very slowly, but inevitably, they change. Now I see trees that I helped plant years ago that are huge. The same is true in life: The things we do now, we may not see the changes for a long time or the impact we want. Change will come.” In the “I’m a Lutheran” column for December, Mark Hansen reflects on the connection between God and nature, favorite memories from church and lessons he has learned from forestry. Read more of his story and why he’s a lifelong Lutheran and member of St. Anthony Park Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minn.

Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton: Christmas message 2021
ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton shares her 2021 Christmas message. “This is our second pandemic Christmas. … There’s so much that's broken in this world, so much that tells us, ‘Why have hope? Just give up.’ But we have a hope that's stronger than any of this, stronger even than death. The hope of God comes in the form of a tiny baby, a helpless child.”
