“Government and Civic Engagement” social statement

What is important to you when you think about government? What about how the church and the state relate to each other? This month, through a virtual listening event, you can connect directly with the ELCA task force working on a new social statement about civics and faith and share what’s important to you. There are two opportunities to participate: Tuesday, May 24, 7-8:15 p.m. Central time and Wednesday, May 25, 7-8:15 p.m. Central time. A key piece of this process is hearing from ELCA members about their priorities and perspectives.

Register today.

Living Lutheran: “A Map of Faith”

In the May issue of Living Lutheran, Megan Brandsrud tells the stories of congregations on the geographic margins and examines how their distinct locations shape their ministries. “Whether they’re in physically remote locations or an area where simply being Lutheran might feel singular, they exemplify the expansive work of the church. Deeply in tune with their mission and faithfully committed to their communities, these ministries reveal that God’s love knows no boundaries, even if maps do.”

Prepare for “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday with new resources

On Sunday, Sept. 11, congregations of the ELCA will join together for “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday, our dedicated day of service. As you explore opportunities to participate, visit ELCA.org/DayOfService for planning resources including a tool kit, worship material, videos, posters, social media graphics and a special hymn for the day. As we continue our tradition of service to our neighbor, we remember the words of Martin Luther: “Our faith is a living, busy, active, mighty thing.”

Plan your day of service.
