Living Lutheran: A song in the midst of suffering
Black String Triage Ensemble, lead by Dayvin Hallmon, is “an all-volunteer ensemble composed of Black and Latinx string musicians who … deliver healing music shortly after a fatal shooting,” writes Erin Strybis in the January/February issue of Living Lutheran. “[They] show up alongside traditional first responders but tend to the community’s unaddressed spiritual wounds. [They] perform music by Black and Latinx composers, curated by Hallmon to speak to the five stages of grief, plus a sixth stage—faith.” As Molly Dreza, the group’s pastor, says, “Their music is not a postlude to the events of suffering but a song sung in the midst of it, bringing hope at the very moment it is most needed.” Read more about this incredible ministry here.

ELCA Federal Credit Union accepting applications for second round of Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loans
Whether or not your congregation benefited from the first round of PPP loans in 2020, it may be eligible now to receive its first or second loan to sustain payroll and operating expenses during the pandemic.
As a lender certified by the Small Business Administration, the ELCA Federal Credit Union (FCU) has administered more than 200 PPP loans for ELCA ministries nationwide and is now accepting applications for the second round of funding. The FCU can assist any eligible ELCA congregation or ministry, even if it received its first PPP loan though a different lender.
Applications will be accepted through March 31, 2021, or until funding is exhausted, whichever comes first.
