A Message From ELCA World Hunger on World Food Day
Every day at ELCA World Hunger, we work together with a global network of partners and companions to find creative and sustainable solutions toward a just world where all are fed. Today, Oct. 16, World Food Day meets us in a season of complex global challenges that are driving a hunger crisis for nearly 193 million people.
Can we count on your support in the work to end hunger? Gifts to ELCA World Hunger in honor of World Food Day will support the Global Farm Challenge, a campaign to support the sustainable-development-related work of ELCA World Hunger.

In The Gambia, Anna participated in a cashew farming project supported by your gifts to ELCA World Hunger. The project is one of several initiatives aimed at building food security and creating new opportunities for Gambians. In this project, women and girls from rural areas with high rates of poverty learn how to grow and market cashew nuts for income. With the additional money, Anna can afford food, clothing, school fees for her children and investments in her growing business.
Anna’s story is just one example of your generosity to ELCA World Hunger transforming a life and ushering in a future filled with hope.
A group of donors have pooled $100,000 to inspire others to give to the Global Farm Challenge in honor of World Food Day. Will you join them by giving today?
This is an important part of Christ’s call on our church — together, we are achieving so much more than we ever could alone. Thank you.
In God’s peace,
Your friends and partners at ELCA World Hunger
P.S. Don’t forget to join ELCA World Hunger for a special World Food Day event hosted by Rick Steves TODAY at 4 p.m. Central time!
