The newest Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) volunteers have begun their year of service abroad. The YAGM program invites young adults aged 21-29 into a transformative, year-long journey in international mission. Rev. Gabi Aelabouni, who serves in Jerusalem as ELCA director for the Middle East and North Africa, says he rejoiced with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Holy Land (ELCJHL) to receive seven new volunteers as the YAGM program resumed. These volunteers are serving in the ELCJHL’s schools and other ministries.
In a recent newsletter, YAGM volunteer Cetera Jacobs shared a little about her time volunteering at Dar Al Kalima Lutheran School in Bethlehem. She writes, “Even though it has only been a few weeks, I am already starting to form relationships and bonds that will make my year more amazing.”

These include severe flooding in Pakistan, drought in the Horn of Africa, typhoon remnants in Alaska and hurricanes Ian, Julia and Fiona in the Atlantic Ocean. Lutheran Disaster Response is working with regional partners to meet the immediate needs of our neighbors in these areas and assist them as they work to rebuild their lives.
