Agricultural Training in a Pandemic

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck last year, lockdowns stranded some travelers en route to their destinations, including a group of four students from Sierra Leone who were headed to the Asian Rural Institute (ARI) in Japan but got stuck in Ghana. Fortunately, John Yeboah, an ARI graduate in Ghana, stepped up to the plate, welcoming the students, helping them find housing and adapting ARI’s agricultural training program so the group could study from their new location.

Bishop Emeritus Sumoward Harris of the Lutheran Church in Liberia passed away on Jan. 14. “We remember with appreciation his public voice, advocating for the dignity and rights of every person, never giving up the vision of people living together in justice and peace,” said the Rev. Dr. Martin Junge, general secretary of Lutheran World Federation (LWF). Read the LWF tribute here.
