In 2022 we recognized the 25th anniversary of ELCA Fund for Leaders. Thank you for all the ways you joined the celebration! Whether you shared our new videos, prayed for Fund for Leaders during worship, attended a regional celebration, gave a gift or shared the application with someone in discernment, you made a difference to the future leaders of our church.
What we have accomplished together is truly remarkable. For over 25 years the Fund for Leaders has supported students of tremendous promise attending ELCA seminaries. During that time we have received over $60 million in generous contributions. Those gifts are currently valued at over $70 million, and we have distributed $28 million in support to over 1,100 students so far. Thanks be to God!
A Year of Celebration and Growth
Generous donors helped us celebrate with two matching-gift initiatives in 2022. During the spring initiative alone we received donations from 350 new supporters. In August, during the first-ever Fund for Leaders Day of Giving, every gift to Fund for Leaders was matched up to $25,000. You rose to the challenge and met the match with record generosity!
You helped support the largest ELCA Fund for Leaders class ever. In 2022, 375 students received almost $3.5 million in awards.
Our Challenge for the Future
To fully realize our vision of supporting all candidates for ministry in the ELCA, we need you. Across our church, people are still learning about this ministry. Help us to continue sharing the story so that we can one day support every ELCA seminarian who says “yes” to God’s call to serve our church.
Thank you for celebrating with us in our 25th anniversary year and beyond! I am excited for all we will do together in the next 25 years.
