Will you give to International Women Leaders today?

Dear friends in Christ,

Today is International Women’s Day. We take this day as an opportunity to recognize women leaders in our global Lutheran community. This year it also gives you the opportunity to double your impact in the lives of emerging women leaders around the world. If you make a gift to International Women Leaders (IWL), your gift will be matched, dollar for dollar, until we reach $50,000.

This morning Rahel Mwitula Williams, ELCA director for mission funding, reached out to request your support for the IWL program. Did you see her message? I’ve forwarded it below in case you missed it.

Your support is especially crucial in a world upended by COVID-19, because opportunities for women and girls have become even more scarce in many places. You can make a difference in the lives of promising young leaders and their communities. Will you double your impact and make a gift to International Women Leaders now?

Together, we can break down barriers and support the next generation of women leaders. Thank you for your continued generosity.

In Christ,

Dear friends in Christ,

Happy International Women’s Day! Today, you have the opportunity to double your impact in the lives of emerging women leaders around the world. When you make a gift to the International Women Leaders (IWL) program, your gift will be matched, dollar for dollar, until we reach $50,000.

Your gift will support emerging leaders like Asi Sitinjak from Indonesia. Thanks to support from donors such as you, she received an International Women Leaders scholarship to study at St. Olaf College. She is currently a junior majoring in sociology, anthropology and women’s and gender studies. “The IWL program has proven to me that young women are powerful, intelligent and capable of paving their paths to a brighter future,” she says, “not just for themselves but also for their church community.”

When Asi was growing up, she often saw women in her community being treated as though they were inferior to men, and women were not encouraged to take on leadership roles. But, she says, “I believe that the presence of this scholarship alone is breaking that stigma, proving that young women are just as brilliant in academia.”

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate incredible women leaders such as Asi. We also recognize women and girls like her, who have leadership potential but have not been able to realize it yet. Today, you can help provide opportunities for more emerging women leaders around the world.

If you make a gift to International Women Leaders now, it will be doubled. Each gift will be matched, dollar for dollar, until we reach $50,000.

Your generosity to International Women Leaders will help provide full-tuition scholarships to ELCA colleges and universities, as well as scholarships for advanced graduate studies and gender justice seminars.

Will you double your impact this International Women’s Day? Together in Christ, we uplift women in our global Lutheran community and build a world with equal opportunities for all.

Peace,

Rahel Mwitula Williams
