Future Church: God’s Love Made Real

We become church together by listening to and learning from one another – will you help? By filling out a new survey, you can assist the ELCA churchwide organization in learning more about our church, what is strong and what needs to grow, so it can better serve our congregations and the world. Your responses will guide us toward a world experiencing the difference that God’s grace and love in Christ make for all people and creation.

Visit lovemadereal.elca.org to take the survey and share your views on the church and the world today. Your participation will help us move together as the Spirit leads us. Learn more.

Celebrating 10 years of “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday

On Sunday, Sept. 10, congregations of the ELCA will join together for our 10th annual day of service. “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday began in 2013 in connection with the ELCA’s 25th anniversary and continues to be a day to celebrate who we are — one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. As you explore opportunities to participate, ELCA.org/DayofService has the resources you need to plan your day, including a tool kit, worship materials, videos, posters, social media graphics and a special hymn. This month Living Lutheran reports on the 10th anniversary of “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday. Celebrate 10 years on the 10th!

A study guide covering the assembly themes is available for free download, along with an introductory guide to Poland and the host church, the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland. Congregations are encouraged to use these resources to explore the themes in contextual ways. Month of Remembrance for Indian Boarding Schools

Month of Remembrance for Indian Boarding Schools

September is a month of remembrance for those who experienced Indian boarding schools. The ELCA’s Truth and Healing Movement will provide opportunities to learn about federal Indian boarding school policies and address the ongoing trauma those policies have caused. As a church, we are committed to understanding our role in this tragic and sinful history so that we can journey toward healing together. On Sept. 30, the National Day of Remembrance for Indian Boarding Schools, you are encouraged to wear an orange shirt and/or raise an orange flag and post a photo on social media. Learn more about this effort and the whole Truth and Healing Movement at ELCA.org/TruthAndHealing.
